Iron-implanted epitaxial palladium thin films: Structure, ferromagnetism and signatures of spinodal decomposition

چکیده

• Ion-beam implantation of thin epitaxial palladium films with iron. Spinodal decomposition into ‘stable phases’ the palladium-iron system. Ferromagnetic composite formation. Multiple ferromagnetic resonances emerge consecutively temperature lowering. Lower coercivity iron-implanted against molecular-beam epitaxy grown ones. We report on formation dilute Pd 1− x Fe composites tunable magnetic properties under ion-beam films. Binary alloys a mean iron content 0.025, 0.035, and 0.075 were obtained by 40 keV + ions MgO (0 0 1) substrate to doses 0.5 × 10 16 , 1.0 3.0 ions/cm 2 respectively. Structural studies have shown that atoms occupy regular fcc-lattice Pd-sites without any secondary crystallographic phase. All implanted reveal ferromagnetism at low temperatures. The observed multiple in indicate magnetically inhomogeneous state due spinodal regions, presumably layers, identical crystal symmetry but different contents. multiphase structure is robust respect vacuum annealing 770 K, though develops towards well-defined local Pd/Fe ratios.

Ferromagnetism in pseudocubic BaFeO3 epitaxial films

Growth and properties of epitaxial BaFeO3 thin films in the metastable cubic perovskite phase are examined. BaFeO3 films were grown on 012 LaAlO3 and 001 SrTiO3 single crystal substrates by pulsed-laser deposition. X-ray diffraction shows that films grown between 650 and 850 °C yield an oxygen-deficient BaFeO2.5+x pseudocubic perovskite phase that decreases in lattice spacing with increasing gr...

Domain structure and magnetotransport in epitaxial colossal magnetoresistance thin films

Our studies of compressively strained La0.7Sr0.3MnO7 ~LSMO! thin films reveal the importance of domain structure and strain effects in the magnetization reversal and magnetotransport. Normal and grazing incidence x-ray diffraction indicate that the compressive strain on these LSMO thin films on ~100! LaAlO3 is not completely relaxed up to thicknesses on the order of 1000 Å. The effect of the co...

Epitaxial growth of thin films

The term ‘epitaxial’ is applied to a film grown on top of the crystalline substrate in ordered fashion that atomic arrangement of the film accepts crystallographic structure of the substrate. Epitaxial growth is one of the most important techniques to fabricate various ‘state of the art’ electronic and optical devices. Modern devices require very sophisticated structure, which are composed of t...
